Hello and welcome to the Scott McMicken specific page of the Press On Records website. My wife Leann and I started this cassette label as an outlet for lots of little projects that we get into, as well as a way to provide cassette copies of great albums that pass our way.

I've personally got a lot of new projects in the works and I'm setting up this zone as a one-stop shop for info on what's going on and what's coming up.

The Hypos

The Hypos is my new band made up of Greg Cartwright, Kevin Williams, Evan Martin, Krista Wroten, and me, Scott McMicken. Our debut album is out now on cassette and 12" vinyl. We also have a 7 inch vinyl record out now featuring "All Summer" and "Heartbroke Town"!

Scott McMicken and THE EVER-EXPANDING

Our latest album, New Purple Dress, is out NOW! It's a highly collaborative improvisational album, much like the gel print by betsy kendrick on the cover, the music is allowed to be captured before the 'paint' is dry. Capturing spontaneous moments and surrendering control, each musician involved brings their own unique voice to the scene. The end result is really beautiful. You can preorder vinyl and cassettes here at Press On, you can hear it at Bandcamp, YouTube, and other streaming services.

Our full debut album Shabang was released by ANTI- on March 31st, 2023. There are 12" vinyl records, CDs, and cassette tapes available at Anti- and Press On (tapes available at Press On only).

Our 2nd album When It's Happening was released April 19th, 2024. It's currently available for digital download and streaming on all services. Cassettes and vinyl are available here at Press On. Check it out on Bandcamp or Spotify or Apple Music

Also, it already happened, but in January 2023, I taught the first School of Song workshop of the new year! It was a month-long course; a completely amazing experience! School of Song is an online music school whose courses are structured around student interaction. Classes are taught in a live online classroom setting with online lectures, live Q+A sessions, song shares and cool stuff like that.
